Roll #55 – Ferrania P30

Ferrania P30 (35mm, Alpha)

My HGB photography workshop came to an end, so I have a bit of a more free head now. At the same time my pre-ordered rolls of Ferrania P30 arrived. What better thing to do, than load a camera and go out for a walk.

I think the things I see during the workshop – through exhibitions, photography books and the other attendees – is influencing my current interest / style. Not sure if I like it, or where it will lead.

One thing that’s a lot on my mind lately is to talk less about technical stuff and focus more on subject. Let’s see how this will go as well…

Fujifilm Fujicolor Natura 1600 (35mm)

I think I’m in love. The colors! The warmth! Being able to shoot at night! And still looks good in daylight! Only the price is a bit hefty. Good thing I have friends, who sponsor such delights. Thaaaanks Caro! xD

All images were taken around christmas. The first two in Leipzig(‘s christmas market), the rest while visiting my brother in a rural part of Germany.

On a different note: it seems that I’ll finally finish the “52 rolls of 2015” in… 2017. Only 5 more to go. I can see the finishing line in the distance!

Roll #43 – ORWO CNS 100

ORWO CNS 100 (expired)

After taking over the family photo albums and scanning dozens of negatives, one film stock really stood out for me: old ORWO color film. I liked the somewhat muted realistic colors a lot. And so began a long hunt on eBay.

After several months I finally got my hands on 5 rolls of CNS 100. They expired in the early 2000s – not that bad. As a precaution I exposed the film as ISO 50 (instead of 100) and developed it normally. And wow, I love love love the colors. Now I have to get more rolls.

Oh and please ignore the weird texture on some / most (okay all) of the photos, I still have to work a lot on my rinsing / drying skills. #finishednotperfect

Roll #39 – JCH Street Pan 400

Usually I don’t buy film that expensive, but being able to give a discontinued film a second chance is an opportunity you don’t often get. Lets hope enough people showed their support, so production can become permanent and distribution is organized more locally – after all the film went from Belgium to Japan (to be blessed by a balding photography priest) and back again to Germany. Crazy!

I’m not sure if a film somewhat aimed at street photographer is suited for shooting in rural Germany, but who cares. The film was inside the camera, the camera was with me and I was visiting my brother in a very small village. But where else do can see storks?

Development was very fast, since the lab was very hot. I need to figure out a way to cool down developer – even the water straight out of the cold water tap was lukewarm at best.
